Dr. M. A. K.
Mian is presenting a paper entitled " Screening of
mungbean genotypes for drought tolerance" at the International
Conferance of Bangladesh Society of Agronomy 2010 at
BARC,
Farmgate, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
BMX01007,
BMX01015 and
BMX90009-6 were drought
tolerent genotypes producing yield of 1112, 1123 and 1159 kg/ha respectively.
Drought tolerant mungbean can be grown in rainfed condition in summer which can increase pulse production in Bangladesh. It can be grown in between rabi (winter)crop and T.aman rice when most of the land remained fallow. Moreover, incorporation of mungbean residue can maintain soil helth. Incorporation of mungbean residue showed positive balance of organic matter (OC), N, P, K, S and Zn in soil (Ph.D Thisis of Dr. M.A.K Mian).
